THE GREATIST RECORDINGS OF ALL-TIME

#1-"MY FAVORITE THINGS"-JOHN COLTRANE QUARTET

SAXAPHONIIST JOHN COLTRANE,IN THE LATE 1950'S AND EARLY 1960'S,
WAS SHAKING UP THE THE JAZZ WORLD IN A WAY THAT IT HAD NEVER BEEN
SHAKEN' BEFORE OR SINCE.HE HAD DEVELOPED A NUMBER OF INTRICATE
TECHNIQUES,"SHEETS OF SOUND","STACKING NOTES" AND FINDING NOTES
THAT FIT THE SONG BUT TECHNICHALLY SHOUDN'T HAVE.USING THIS ARSENAL
OF SOUND COLTRANE AMAZED AUDIENCES AND FELLOW MUSICIANS WHO
WOULD STAND NEXT TO THE STAGE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW COLTRANE
WAS BLAZING THIS NEW TRAIL AND HOW HE COULD SOUND LIKE TWO
SAXAPHONISTS PLAYING AT ONCE।
COLTRANES COMPOSITIONAL SKILLS WERE ALSO AT THERE BEST-"NAIMA","COUSIN MARY","CENTRAL PARK WEST","GIANT STEPS" AND "EQUINOX"
WERE ALL WORKS OF AMAZING GENUIS.BUT THERE WAS MORE.COLTRANE MANAGED TO TAKE HIS INCREDIBLY COMPLEX PLAYING STYLE AND ADAPT IT
TO THE POPULAR SONG "MY FAVORITE THINGS" FROM THE SOUND OF MUSIC{FILM
AND MUSICAL}.THE RECORDING CROSSED OVER INTO THE MAINSTREAM AND
"FAVORITE THINGS" BECAME SECOND ONLY TO DAVE BRUBECKS "TAKE FIVE" AS
THE BEST-SELLING JAZZ RECORD OF ALL-TIME.SUDDENLY SQUARES WERE
TURNED ON TO COOL।IT WAS COLTRANES REVOLUTION.
